See reasons why America govt. remove Nigeria from the watch list of religion violators.
Nigeria government seems to be in a happy mood due to the recent report that the US government did not direct their search light among those countries who are causing crises through religion. According to the report Nigeria is exempted from the list because it has not directly violated the system of religion practice among the citizens despite terrorism and kidnapping in the North-East.
Unlike some countries like Russia, Egypt and seven other nations, Nigerians have learned to tolerate one another in spite of religion diversity. From the south to the north, and from west to east, the citizens have been able to live, work and fellowship together harmoniously.
The U.S Secretary of State Anthony Blinken made this known in a statement on Wednesday titled: "Religious Freedom Designations". The report indicates that there are some countries like Russia who are very baised in religion practice hence the US government is keeping close watch on them.
For the record, everyone living in Nigeria is aware that there is indeed, religion tolerance among the people. It's evident in some families where the members adhere to different faith yet live together. Of course this doesn't take aways the existing fact of religion fanaticism, however to an extent, the country has tried to maintain some kind of religion balance. Even in the extreme North-East where moslems are in majority there are still pockets of christians who goes about their daily bread unhindered. Likewise in South-Eastern part of the country where 90% of the population are christians and the few Moslem believers enjoy freedom of association and worship.
Meanwhile President Muhammadu Buhari had received Anthony Blinken in Aso Rock on Thursday. The US Secretary arrived in Abuja for a three-day visit to the country. During his stay he is expected to have a meeting with the President, the Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and the minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama especially on the security challenges facing the country.
